Chewing the Cud with… Orlaith Moore

This month, we’re catching up with Orlaith Moore, Sales Executive in Tirlán Ingredients

From graduate programme participant to Sales Executive in Tirlán Ingredients, Orlaith has built an exciting career driven by a passion for business, customer relationships and understanding how markets evolve. Based in Kilkenny, she joined Tirlán in 2023 as a Logistics Associate through our Unearth your Future graduate programme and has since progressed into a commercial role where no two days are the same.

Before joining Tirlán, she worked in auditing and accountancy roles but with a degree in International Business Management, she always had a strong interest in global commerce, supply chains and the wider marketplace. That interest ultimately led her towards a more commercially focused career path and a role that perfectly aligns with her ambitions.

In her current position as a Sales Executive, Orlaith works closely with customers and colleagues across the business to support growth, strengthen relationships and identify opportunities for products across the Ingredients portfolio. The role combines customer engagement with collaboration across a wide range of internal teams, making every day varied and rewarding.

“The variety is what I enjoy most,” she says. “I love working with different customers and gaining insight into how markets are changing. Being part of a commercial team means you’re close to the decision-making and strategy, which I find really motivating.”

She also highlights the collaborative culture at Tirlán as a key part of her experience. “There’s a great support network across the business. People are always willing to help, which makes it easier to learn, develop and take on new challenges.”

Having already built strong relationships during the graduate programme, she found the move into a full-time commercial role a natural progression. While the role brought greater responsibility, she felt supported every step of the way. “The graduate programme gave me a really solid foundation. It helped me build confidence and develop the relationships that made the transition much smoother.”

A key part of her role involves meeting customers and staying connected with developments across the industry. She has represented Tirlán at major events such as Food Ingredients Europe (FiE), where she had the opportunity to meet customers and connect with industry peers from across the sector.

Earlier this year she also travelled to the UK with Bord Bia, gaining valuable insights into one of Europe’s most competitive food markets. “Seeing what’s happening on the ground in retail and quick-service restaurants was a fantastic experience. Visiting stores and spending time in-market helps bring everything to life. It gives you a much better understanding of consumer trends, market dynamics and how products are positioned.”

Outside of work, Orlaith enjoys spending time immersed in books and music and loves attending concerts whenever she can. Sport also plays a big role in her life, particularly running and cycling. Having recently completed her third half marathon, she’s already looking ahead to the next challenge. She has also returned to playing camogie with her local club, Dicksboro. “It’s hard to stay away from camogie when you’re from Kilkenny,” she laughs.

From exploring international markets to crossing half marathon finish lines, Orlaith brings energy, curiosity and a passion for continuous learning to everything she does – qualities that continue to serve her well as she builds her career with Tirlán.
