A new chapter at Tirlán

Tirlán grows its community presence with three new pharmacies

There’s some exciting news from across Tirlán, as we continue to grow, invest and build for the future.

Tirlán has acquired three established community pharmacies in Thomastown and Ballyhale, Co. Kilkenny, and Borris, Co. Carlow, expanding our growing healthcare portfolio.

The three pharmacies will join our existing pharmacy in Campile, Co. Wexford, marking another important step in Tirlán’s diversification and creating a platform for sustainable future growth.

Staying connected to our communities

The pharmacies will continue to trade under the Kissane’s name, with customers continuing to see the same familiar teams and receive the same excellent standards of care.

Each pharmacy is already firmly established within its local community, providing an important service to people in the surrounding towns and villages. Maintaining access to essential local services is particularly important in rural Ireland and reflects Tirlán’s longstanding connection with the communities we are part of.

Chief Agri Officer Ailish Byrne highlighted that the acquisition will also help improve efficiencies across Tirlán’s pharmacy operations while creating a platform for sustainable future growth.

The investment builds on Tirlán Agri’s existing presence across the south and east of Ireland where we currently operate 52 agri retail branches, including 15 CountryLife Home and Garden lifestyle stores.

Investing in our Future

As Tirlán continues to evolve, investments like this allow us to explore new opportunities while remaining connected to our roots. The acquisition strengthens Tirlán Agri’s long-term commercial position and reflects our focus on investing in opportunities that align with our purpose, strategy and the needs of our members.

Most importantly, it also means welcoming new colleagues into Tirlán. We’re delighted to welcome the teams in Thomastown, Ballyhale and Borris to the wider Tirlán community and look forward to this next chapter together.

Bringing our strategy to life

The acquisition is also a great example of our strategy in action, particularly
our Investments pillar.

Our strategy is not just about where we want to go. It is about the choices and
investments we make to strengthen Tirlán for the future. This latest acquisition
shows that in a very tangible way, investing in opportunities that can support
sustainable growth while keeping us closely connected to the rural
communities where our members, employees and customers live and work.

For colleagues across Tirlán, it’s a real-life example of how our strategy
translates into action and how investment today can help build a stronger,
more diverse business for the future.
