Team Conversations – Bringing Our Values to Life

An event in Ballyragget has helped employees more fully embody Tirlán’s Values

Over 250 Ballyragget employees came together recently in Castlecomber to hear about the plans and strategies for the year ahead. The full day, town hall meeting included a two-hour workshop session in the morning where employees talked through Tirlán’s core Values and how they can work together to live the Values in a more cohesive way.

Over the duration of the workshop, teams of employees were broken out into groups and each group selected a Value. “They read through the description of the Value they had chosen and talking amongst themselves, they chatted about the ways they felt they embodied the Value and how they could improve. Ballyragget is a huge site; it’s almost like four factories in one and people don’t often get the chance to interact with everyone. This event gave all participants the opportunity to come together, talk about our Values and also hear about the plans for the site in 2024,” said Sonia Baldwin, Senior HR Business Partner at Tirlán who helped facilitate the event.

One point that was raised during the workshop was the historical lack of diversity at Tirlán, something that’s changing within the organisation. “We have a number of graduates from many countries and backgrounds now and more women are taking up roles across a range of fields. I think participants at the event recognised that while diversity at Tirlán is in a growth phase, employees are very welcoming of it and they’re enjoying the fact it’s increasing. They’re open to making sure that growth continues.”

Healthy discussions were had by all who attended, with each team agreeing to commit to one or two actions to more fully embody Tirlán’s Values.
