Tirlán is proud to have partnered with Agri Aware and milk supplier Shane Fitzgerald and his family recently to showcase to the public how the Fitzgerald’s, like so many of our family farm suppliers, are producing quality milk, while also maintaining high standards of animal welfare and taking care of the environment.
The free, family-friendly Open Day on the farm in Portlaw, Co Waterford, showcased cows being milked and farm machinery being used. Nature trails on the family farm were hugely popular and a hive of activity. The Open Day had something for everyone to enjoy and also included cookery demonstrations, panel discussions and a children’s zone.
This collaboration with Agri Aware is one of many Tirlán events organised to build greater awareness among consumers of modern agriculture, the rural environment, high animal welfare and food quality standards among the non-farming public in particular.
It also offered an opportunity for the team here at Tirlán and our partners to show the crucial role that the farming and agri-food industry play in the Irish economy and in sustaining jobs and small enterprises in communities right across rural Ireland.
